Bigger Than Yourself
I think life is all about doing things in pursuit of something bigger than yourself. Life wouldn't be as extraordinary as it is if you're always thinking about me, me, me. Having your vision set to something larger than yourself is the most fulfilling. It means you're helping others, uplifting those around you, and inspiring others to do the same. That's what matters most.
At the end of your life, nobody will remember you for the things you did for yourself. They will remember all you did for others. It's the things that pushed the world forward so all of humanity can benefit. Ego and selfishness get in the way. Fame, money, and power, rather than love, connection, and purpose. Don't fall into the trap.
When you're doing something bigger than yourself, your heart is deeply in it. You are so in love with what you're doing, because you know how important it is. It's something that positively impacts those around you and leaves your mark. Life is short enough where you can't do everything yet you can change the world in many ways.
"Bigger than yourself" doesn't mean you need to have the impact of Musk or Jobs. You can be a part of helping family and friends or be a part of a smaller team where you live. It doesn't have to be monumental to make a difference. All that matters is you're pointing your arrow in the direction of something you feel is larger than yourself.
The fulfillment you get is unbelievable. Nothing beats it. That's why it's so important to find things that check the boxes off. It makes not just the world a better place, but you a better human being. Looking outwards rather than inwards is what you need in a world that's full of chaos. Anchor yourself in something bigger than yourself. It's the best thing you'll ever do.
