Make Something Beautiful

Over the last few days, I've been consuming tons of content from Steve Jobs. He has an incredible way with words. His storytelling is magical and makes you look at the world differently. Some words in particular stuck with me, and they're that the best way to show appreciation for the rest of humanity is to make something beautiful and put it out there.

When you make some beautiful, you will only meet the tiniest sliver of people who actually see what you made. The rest are people you'll never meet, people you'll never get to know about or share stories with. So why make anything?

It's because you don't need to know the people to feel the kindness, compassion, and respect pouring out of the creation. It's your gift for being a fellow member of humanity on this planet we call home. It's the sense of appreciation you get when using something beautiful that somebody made for you to use. That's what matters most.

So, Steve Jobs spent his life making beautiful products and experiences for the rest of us to use. It's our job to continue that, and "make something wonderful" as he would say. We are entering a time where there's so many ways to do just that. You can craft artwork or a piece of a writing, build a product or an experience.

Brian Chesky, CEO of Airbnb, has a model when crafting experiences in his products. He says, always shoot for the 6 or 7-star experience. The little details matter and if you obsess over the small things, you can make something people love too. So, go out and make something beautiful for the rest of humanity.
